What we're learning:
Refer to weekly newsletter for skills and homework. UNRAAVEL Stategy: A Reading Tool Used to Help Students Answer Questions. U=Underline the title. If there is no title, underline the first two sentences. N=Now predict what the text is about based on the title or the first two sentences. R=Run through and number the paragraphs. If a question asks you about a certain paragraph-you don’t have to count because the paragraphs are already numbered. A=Are you reading the questions. Circle what the question is asking you to do. For example: What is the root word of surprised? You should circle the words: root, word, and surprised. A= Are you circling words in the text to help you answer the question? Circle words that you came across when you read the questions. V=Venture through and read the text. E=Eliminate wrong answers. Make sure you tell why the answer is wrong. L=Let the question be answered. Make sure you tell why you chose that answer. |
